The
Bank of Industry says it is willing to partner the Ogun state
government, south-western Nigeria, in promoting small
businesses.
Mrs. Evelyn Oputu, Managing Director the bank said in Abeokuta,
when she led a management team of the bank to visit Governor
Gbenga Daniel that the bank would like to tap into the
favourable business atmosphere of the gateway state.
She said the state was full of business opportunities that the
bank would explore.
’’ We are willing to partner the state in an integrated
approach to deepen the state's economy through the promotion of
small and medium scale enterprises, entrepreneurial skill
development programme and business promotions,” she said.
Potential areas for exploit
She cited the development of sugarcane, cotton, textiles, dairy
products and power generation as some potential areas which the
bank would like to tap into.
’’We will also like to take the maximum advantage of the Mega
city spill-over from Lagos to do business with the state,” Oputu
said.
She announced that the management of the bank had concluded
plans to open a branch in the state.
Governor Daniel asked the bank to come up with a blueprint for
the development of small and medium-scale enterprises as well as
the utilisation of local resources to promote home-grown
technology.
He also asked the bank to explore the possibility of promoting
agriculture, especially rice cultivation for which the state has
potential.
