Fifteen Man Committee
On Jos Crisis Set Up
A
15-member committee has been set up to find an enduring
solution to the recurrence of crisis in North Central Nigerian
city of Jos, Plateau state.
The committee was set up at a consultative meeting presided over
by Vice President Goodluck Jonathan at the State House, Abuja.
Elder statesman and former Plateau governor, Chief Solomon Lar,
has been appointed as its chairman while Ambassador Yahya Kwande
was appointed co-chairman.
Other members of the committee are: Mrs Hannatu Chollom, Mr.
John Samci, Professor N. Gomwalk, Ibrahim Nakande, Ambassador
Fidelis Tapgun and Senator John Shagaya.
Senator Ibrahim Mantu, Honourable Leo Dilkon, Most Reverend I.A.
Kaigama, Sheikh Dawud Balarabe, Mrs Fati Kyari, Air Vice Marshal
M. U. Abbas and Alhaji Saleh Hassan are also members of the
committee.
The committee is to examine the issues surrounding the recurrent
violence in the state and work out how various institutions and
levels of government can interact to ensure that the crisis is
resolved once and for all.
