CBN Devises Measures
Against Global Recession

The
Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Sanusi
Lamido Sanusi says the apex bank has strengthened
the regulation and supervision of commercial banks
by laying greater emphasis on enforcement of code of
corporate governance.
According to him, this is part of measures designed
to check the effect of the global economic crisis on
Nigerian banks.
Mr. Sanusi said, at a forum in Makurdi, North
central Nigeria, that in this regard the central
bank had posted examiners to banks to ensure timely
regulatory actions.
The Central Bank governor observed that the current
economic crisis was reshaping the global competitive
scene but, the apex bank would continue to do its
best to ensure that its monetary policy is in line
with global best practices.
