NATIONAL ASSEMBLY IN NIGERIA
INVITES FORMER PRESIDENT AND HIS DEPUTY.

The
Nigerian House of Representatives has invited former President,
Olusegun Obasanjo and his deputy, Atiku Abubakar, to appear
before the Committee on Power and Steel probing the sixteen
billion naira allegedly expended on power sector between 1999
and 2007.
The committee in a separate
invitation letters signed by its Clerk Salisu Yaro Ahmed, asked
both the former president and his deputy to appear before it on
Monday next week to state their side of the story.
The invitation is sequel to a lot
of allegations and counter allegations leveled against both
Chief Obasanjo and Alhaji Atiku during the public hearing,
where oral testimonies were given by both stakeholders, from
the public and private sectors.
The Committee had at its meeting
on Tuesday, 22nd April 2008, unanimously resolved
that before submitting its report, it would give both men fair
hearing by inviting them to give their perspective of what
they know, or their role in the execution of projects in the
power sector from 1999 to 2007.
