| Political situation in Uganda take New turn
By Collins Atohengbe, Pretoria
Political situation in Uganda is fast assuming a new and dangerous dimension both for the government of Yoweri Museveni and the average Ugandans who are bent on seeing the sheriff of Kampala out of office by a popular protest.
Each week, Ugandans converge on major city squares on Mondays and Thursdays to demand that Museveni steps down from office.
The people say they have just realized that the last election which returned their leader of over two decades to power was rigged. They are also complaining about the high cost of essential goods and a hike in pump price of petrol.
The protest has led to the arrest and detention of the opposition leader, Kisa Besigie.
Bernard Ogwang, a Ugandan based in Kampala, told voice of Nigeria that the government has deployed security agents all over Ugandan and that a two year old was shot last Thursday in Kampala during the protest.
