| South Africa commiserates with Nigeria over bomb blast
The South African government has condemned the suicide attack on the
United Nations (UN) building in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital which killed
several people.
In a statement issued in Johannesburg, South Africa on Monday, the
government said it was confident that the perpetrators of the heinous
crime would be tracked and made to face the full wrath of the law.
Tragic loss
The country sent its condolences to the government and people of
Nigeria, as well as the staff of the UN, who are based in Nigeria, on
the tragic loss of lives and destruction of property in the incident.
Nigeria's Police Boss has assured diplomatic missions in the country of adequate security in there various missions in Nigeria, adding that all their requests would be attended to within the available resources.
He said some arrests had been made but added that details would be made available by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Suicide attack
He explained that the security agencies had been directed to leave no stone unturned in ensuring the security of all in Nigeria.
They will go round the diplomatic missions in Nigeria to discuss effective measures to combat terrorism in the country.
The UN Headquarters in Abuja was bombed on Friday killing twenty three people while some are still in critical condition in hospitals in Abuja.
An Islamic sect known as the Boko Haram, in Nigeria has claimed responsibility for the suicide attack.
