A combined team of Police and Home Affairs officials has cracked a prostitution ring run by Chinese nationals at Bedfordville near Johannesburg.

Security officials stormed the house after six weeks of investigation and arrested ten Chinese women with some male Chinese clients.

They also confiscated hard drugs, an unspecified amount of money and condoms.
Officials of the Home Affairs Department confirmed that the women had authentic work permits but were not doing any legal business as expected.

Contravention

An officer of the Gauteng Metropolitan Police, Wilfred Kqasago said the ladies would be charged to court with contravention of work permit.

“The ladies are going to be charged with contravention of their work permit because they are not working at all. What they are doing is that they are involved in prostitution”, Kqasago said.

Officials said some documents which were recovered from the house would have to be translated from Chinese to English language while legal consultations  were on to determine if the seven Chinese male clients arrested with the sex workers would be charged as well.

The officials also confirmed that the Manager of the premises was detained when he arrived at the police station with one hundred and twenty thousand rand to bribe the police into dropping the case.
