| Obama backs Russia’s Libya mediation bid
US President, Barack Obama has expressed the US support for mediation bid over Libya crisis proposed by Russia.
Obama made this known to the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday.
Necessary transition talks
He said that the US welcomes political solution in Libya and is ready to support talks toward a democratic transition as long as Muammar Gaddafi steps aside.
Obama's press secretary, Jay Carney, said in a statement that the president made clear his position on the matter in a White House meeting with Lavrov.
