| ‘Africa Day’: Africans urged to address continent’s challenges
Africans have been urged to genuinely re-focus their energies on addressing the challenges facing the continent.
The call was made by the Chief Executive officer of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development Planning and Coordinating Agency (NEPAD Agency), Dr. Ibrahim Assane Mayaki, in a statement to mark this year’s ‘Africa Day’ on Wednesday.
Dr. Mayaki said that there was need for all Africans to use the Day to take stuck of their achievements.
He said that the team for the Africa Day- “Accelerating Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development’’- and the recent uprising in some parts of Africa emphasises the need to address the continent’s challenges in order to make a better tomorrow for all its people.
The NEPAD
The NEPAD chief called on all Africans to take advantage of NAPAD’s framework such as CAADP, which possess practical solutions and corrective policies that can be used to address some of the socio-economic challenges facing the continent and bring about genuine transformation.
The NEPAD, as the technical body of the African Union www.africa-union.org, works closely with the African Union Commission (AUC), regional economic communities, national governments, civil society and the private sector to push for programmes and projects that focus on improving the lives of the African people.
