AU urged to implement resolution on Libyan crisis
Funke Atohengbe, South Africa
A Libyan Member of Parliament, Dr Mohammed Farhart, has called on the African Union (AU) to implement the resolution it reached on the Libyan crisis when it sent a delegation led by South African President, Jacob Zuma, to Tripoli.
Dr Farhat told Voice of Nigeria in Midrand, South Africa that the AU should encourage dialogue between aggrieved Libyans and Colonel Moammar Gaddafi.
The Libyan Parliamentarian said foreign interference in African affairs should not be encouraged because Africa has the ability to resolve its problems.
Dr Farhat said the crisis in Libya was a an orchestrated conspiracy to destabilize Tripoli.
The Pan African Parliament will on Thursday, May 19, discuss a draft resolution on the Libyan crisis as part of efforts to seek a peaceful solution.
