EU, ECOWAS technical experts visit Nigerian companies

The technical experts on West Africa Quality Programme have begun visit to selected manufacturing companies in Nigeria to ascertain their quality control measures.

The visit is coming after certification of 20 companies in the food and beverages sectors under the ECOWAS/Mauritania component to enterprises certification.

Leader of the technical team, Dr Joel Akinbolawa, explained that that the exercise would reinforce the certification process and give the team an on-the-spot assessment of quality control programmes of selected manufacturing companies in Nigeria.

He said that there was need to ensure that Nigerian goods meet the global standards for exports to regional, continental and international markets.

The team has visited a private farm, Akin Satiru Farms and one of the Dangote Group of Companies - Dansa Foods in Lagos, south west Nigeria.

At Dansa Foods the team expressed satisfaction with the quality control measures of the company which they said would will ensure that the company’s manufactured goods meet up with the international standards.
