| South Africa To Create More Jobs Funke and Collins Atohengbe, Cape Town
The South African government has set aside 20 billion rand in tax allowances to promote investment, business expansion and upgrading of the manufacturing sector of its economy.
Speaking to a joint sitting of the South African Parliament on Thursday, President Jacob Zuma said that the measure was to create an enabling environment for economic growth and to reduce unemployment through job creation.
Another major area which President Zuma 's state of the nation address touched was provision of quality education.
Faced with the need to raise the standard of literacy, President Zuma said his administration would increase access to education at all levels for capacity building .
The South African Minister of Basic Education, Matsie Motshekga said that was in line with the government's policy of consistency in education development.
