Zambia Anti Graft Agency Tasks Banda

The Executive Director of Zambia-based Transparency International, Goodwell Lungu has called on President Rupiah Banda to remain focused at efforts to root out corruption ahead of this year's general election.

President Banda has been criticised for allowing former Director-General of the Zambia Security Intelligence Services, Xavier Chungu, to openly campaign for the incumbent leader's re-election.

Chungu reportedly fled Zambia to avoid prosecution after he was charged with corruption, along with former President Frederick Chiluba.

Lungu of Zambia's Transparency International said in an interview that his organisation would keep up pressure on President Banda to continue the fight against corruption, which the late President Levy Mwanawasa began a few years ago.
