| Nigeria And Liberia Unveil UN Women Logo
Nigerian and Liberian Presidents have unveiled the logo of the UN Women in Addis Ababa , Ethiopia . The UN Women is the new global agency, established to meet the gender needs of the womenfolk.
The Nigerian president gave assurance that his administration would join other African leaders to give support to the new organisation.
He congratulated the Executive Director of UN Women and former President of Chile, Michelle Bacheleti, for a successful ceremony.
President Jonathan of Nigeria , who was represented at the ceremony by the immediate past Ambassador to Ethiopia , Mrs. Nkoyo Toyo, expressed the hope that African women would find their voice through the new organisation.
In her remarks, the Liberian President, Mrs. Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf expressed happiness that women now had a platform to voice their preferences on issues that concerned them.
Johnson-Sirleaf said the logo, conveying the message of women equality and empowerment worldwide, was in capable hands with Bacheleti as the agency head.
