Senegal Recalls Ambassador To Iran

Senegal has recalled its ambassador to Iran , saying it was unhappy with explanations given by Tehran over an arms seizure in Nigeria .

Iranian Foreign Minister, Manouchehr Mottaki had paid a two-day visit to the West African state, partly to explain the affair.

A statement by Senegal 's Foreign Ministry however described as unsatisfactory, the explanations provided by Iran .

The arms shipment has dented Iran 's quest for allies and trade partners in Africa .

Neighbouring Gambia has already cut all ties with Iran after 13 containers of weapons from Iran destined for Gambia were seized in Lagos Port in October.

Nigeria also cancelled a scheduled friendly football match between her team and the Iranian team over the arms shipment incident.
