| Uganda To Inoculate Millions Against Yellow Fever
Over two million residents in the northern districts of Uganda are to be immunised against yellow fever, following an outbreak which has killed 45 people and left over 180 others ill.
The Director-General of the Ugandan Health Ministry, Dr. Nathan Kenya-Mugisha, said the outbreak began in early November but was not confirmed as yellow fever until this week, by the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.
The Ugandan Ministry of Health said the cause of the outbreak was not known but that it could have originated in animals.
Dr. Kenya-Mugisha said the ministry was working with partners to mobilise resources to vaccinate people in the affected areas and that the authorities were doing all they could do to contain the disease.
