AU body gets new chair
A Nigerian, Mrs Catherine Dupe Atoki has been elected as the chairperson of the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights (ACHPR).
She was elected in Gambia on Tuesday.
Mrs. Atoki was elected chairperson of the continental body at the ongoing 50th Ordinary Session and 30th year anniversary of the Commission, holding at the Sheraton Hotel in Banjul, the capital of Gambia.
Mrs. Atoki is the first Nigerian woman to head an organ of the African Union.
